Tate Liverpool – Creative Art Project ‘Education & Mental Health’

The nine-week project with TATE Liverpool will focus on the theme of education and mental health, following on from the NOW Festival. This project will be split into three parts…

Part 1: During the first 4 weeks, the young people will go on the ‘Spring To’ course, which is a confidence course that discovers what unique about them and their own skill set. Taking them on a journey of self-reflection and discovery.

Part 2: Over the following 5 weeks, after being on the spring to course, the young people will engage in a series of art workshops with Julie Mitchell (same artist who created the mannequins with the young people!), to use the reflections gained in part 1, to create a 3D artistic sculpture that represents what mental health and education means, and looks like to them.

Part 3: This sculpture will then be on display at TATE Exchange from 18th – 20th May 2018.

There are only 12 spaces for this project due to the nature of the workshops, however, everyone is welcome to come and see the sculpture in part three.

Young people, between the ages of 12 – 19 are invited to apply. The workshops will run from 4.30 – 8pm at Merseyside Youth Association, Hanover Street, between March – May.
