ACEs
The pandemic has increased the risk of some children and young people experiencing adverse childhood experiences. ACEs are about children and young people who have experienced abuse, neglect, been around parents with mental health problems, spent time in prison, separated, drug and alcohol misuse or have witnessed domestic violence. There is also a range of other adversities that may have been faced. Research has shown that ACEs can lead to poorer health, social and physical health outcomes.
This film reflects on children and young people’s experiences through the pandemic and what parents, carers and professionals need to be aware of to support children and young people and to ensure their ACEs do not define them.
