Infant Mental Health Awareness Week
Many of the UK’s most prominent parenting and children’s organisations joined together to launch the UK’s first national Infant Mental Health Awareness Week from 6th-10th June 2016.
During the course of the week over 100 organisations put a spotlight on why emphasis on the first 1001 days of a child’s life matters, and the importance of infant mental health as a positive, preventative public health strategy for future generations.
FRESH CAMHS were proud to support this landmark initiative in the history of mental health provision in the UK. Fresh CAMHS hosted a mental health promotion event at Alder Hey’s Hospital In the Park which was staffed by clinicians from Fresh CAMHS, the Fresh participation group and a representative from LivPip. This involved talking to parents and staff at Alder Hey about infant mental health, 1001 First Days manifesto, and our clinical work in CAMHS to this end. We also had a little table and chairs for toddler age children with activities for parents and children to do together, sensory baskets, bubbles, balloons, and snacks for everyone involved.
The multi-award winning Fresh CAMHS participation group were an integral part of the team and lead a successful social media campaign to promote infant mental health. We were delighted that the then Liverpool Shadow MP for Mental Health, Luciana Berger, dropped by to support the event (see picture).
