A report on mental health provision for 16-25-year-olds in Liverpool has been released.
Led by Merseyside Youth Association’s RAISE Team, the extensive review was carried out in partnership with local mental health service providers. The team consulted with young people and the local workforce that works to support the 16-25 cohort.
The report highlights the need to enhance mental health services for young people aged 16-25 in Liverpool. It presents findings gathered through consultations with young people, parents, carers, and professionals from various mental health service providers.
Key Objectives and Insights:
- Evaluate existing mental health pathways for individuals aged 16-25.
- Provide a platform for young people to express their perspectives on current services.
- Share local best practices and recommendations for service improvement.
- Support the development of an action plan centred around youth voices.
The review identified six critical areas of inquiry:
- Access to services.
- Awareness of services.
- Exiting services.
- Diverse and vulnerable groups: access to and use local services.
- Youth-friendly culture within mental health services.
- Collaborative working and continuity of care.
It also identified overarching issues such as limited data and high thresholds for accessing support.
The report provides a roadmap for action, with key priorities including workforce development, fostering a youth-friendly culture, promoting services, enhancing access, and improving collaborative working and continuity of care.
