Who the course is for: this course is for those working with children and young people (in any capacity), and parents, carers, or those caring for children and young people.

About the course: Delivered by the MYA RAISE Team, this Bitesize course gives information about what a kinship family is and how to recognise a kinship kid. It discusses the parliamentary report ‘First Thought not an After Thought’, highlights key law and legislation, and showcases an animation created in partnership by with Kinship Carers Liverpool. The session will focus on what role you can play in supporting Kinship families by providing you with further support services, guidance and information.

Learning outcomes: 

  • Understand what Kinship is and the role in supporting young peoples mental health kinships plays
  • Increased awareness of the issued faced by kin-kids and their kinship families
  • The importance of being ACE and trauma aware
  • Ways to support the resilience of kin-kids and kinships families

Time length: 1 hour
