Who the course is for: this course is for those working with children and young people (in any capacity), and parents, carers, or those caring for children and young people.

About this course:  Delivered by the MYA RAISE Team, this half-day course accompanies our SERIOUS: Suicide Prevention Training.

Young people may have thoughts of suicide – but thoughts about suicide does not make it inevitable. A safety plan helps prevent turning these thoughts into actions. A Safety Plan focuses on keeping a person safe right now, includes what they would do, and who might support them, in a crisis.

Learning outcomes:

  • Gain knowledge of what a Safety Plan is
  • Increase confidence is completing a Safety Plan with young people
  • Understand how to talk to young people about completing a Safety Plan

Time length: 3 hours

Delivery method: Online via Zoom. A link will be emailed out to you a few days beforehand.
