Alder Hey CAMHS Crisis Care Team, Information to Professionals
Alder Hey CAMHS (Liverpool FRESH CAMHS and Sefton CAMHS), are pleased to announce the addition of a new dedicated Crisis Care team which is now fully operational.
The newly formed Crisis Care Team will operate 7 days a week, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday, and all Bank Holidays. The Crisis Care Team will be offering advice, consultation, and direct intervention to children/young people (CYP) aged 0-18th birthday *. Families, CYP, and carers can now contact the team during our operational hours on 0151 293 3577, and professionals can contact us by calling 0151 282 4724 (Extension 4724 if calling from inside the hospital or other CAMHS Community teams).
As well as operating a new dedicated Crisis Care Line, we will also provide the following functions:
- We will offer urgent next day mental health assessments when this has been identified following an initial triage, and this is the most helpful intervention for the CYP.
- We will continue to offer ward based assessments of CYP who have been admitted to hospital in an emergency, either for treatment following an episode of self-harm or for their safety. We will endeavour to see all CYP, with the person who holds Parental Responsibility, within 24 hours of receiving a referral from ward-based medics or other health professionals.
- We will continue to provide the Single point of Access function for Liverpool FRESH CAMHS and Sefton CAMHS, with no change to the existing pathway for referring agencies.
* Young people aged 16 to 18th birthday are supported by Alder Hey CAMHS Service in crisis care and talking therapies; however more urgent/emergency mental health presentations are assessed by our colleagues in Mersey Care.
