How We Built Our Village: The Power of Co-production

Co-production and peer support have the power to transform how people experience mental health and social care services – and how providers deliver them.

They say it takes a village to raise a child, and that’s exactly how the parents who use PSS’s Parent-Baby Service feel about the mental health and wellbeing support they’re given both by the PSS team and the other parents in the group who draw on our support. We’re all part of their village, which has been built by listening, working together and creating a service that works for everyone.

Health and social care professionals are invited to join social care charity PSS, Everton Football Club charity Everton in the Community, The Comedy Trust, and Arts Association for Social change Collective Encounters, for a conference where you can learn about what makes great parental mental health and wellbeing support, directly from the experts: the people we support.

What this conference will give to you

Our conference has been co-produced with the people who use the PSS Parent-Baby Service, which supports the mental health and wellbeing of parents and children under the age of two in Merseyside, and will give you the chance to:

  • See the power of co-production in action
  • Look at ways you can introduce co-production to your practice
  • Learn about how services and practices are perceived by people with lived experience
  • Understand the benefits of peer-to-peer support around mental wellbeing
  • Network with other service providers
  • Watch a stand-up comedy set written and performed by the people we support all about their experience of parenting and of using health and social care services

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Come along and learn how doing things with people, not to them, creates empowering, engaging mental health and wellbeing services.
