Vacancy: Mental Health Promotion Worker

Are you passionate about mental health and making a difference in the lives of children, young people, and their families? Our partner, Merseyside Youth Association’s RAISE Team, is looking for a dynamic and dedicated individual to join the team as a Children & Young People’s Mental Health Promotion Worker.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead initiatives that promote mental health awareness and resilience within schools and community settings, focusing on Liverpool and beyond.

Primary Purpose of the Role

As the Children & Young People’s Mental Health Promotion Worker, you will be at the forefront of mental health promotion in schools and youth settings. Your role will involve delivering comprehensive mental health programs, providing vital training to the children’s workforce, and implementing school-based mentoring and group work projects. Additionally, you will support the delivery of the NOW Mental Health Arts Festival, a key initiative to make children’s and young people’s mental health everyone’s business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Training and Development: Develop and deliver in-person and online training programs for professionals working with children and young people. Create engaging training materials, resources, and toolkits to enhance mental health awareness, self-care, and resilience across various settings.
  • Peer Programmes and Mentoring: Initiate and nurture peer programs for children, young people, and parents/carers, focusing on mental health promotion and stigma reduction. Implement the Mentors in Violence Prevention Project in schools and support the Rocket Programme to build resilience champions in primary schools.
  • Mental Health Promotion: Work collaboratively with schools and community partners to promote key mental health messages such as resilience, anxiety, and the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Develop and implement action plans for mental health promotion campaigns, including social media initiatives.
  • Project Coordination and Delivery: Recruit and train groups of children and young people to promote mental health through creative outreach activities like digital arts, sports, and media campaigns. Co-produce mental health resources with children, young people, parents, and carers, capturing their experiences to influence future service developments.
  • Event Planning: Play a key role in planning and facilitating events such as the NOW Festival, championing the message that mental health is everyone’s business.
  • Research and Evaluation: Undertake surveys to identify the needs of children, young people, and the workforce. Use this data to shape training initiatives and mental health resources. Support the evaluation of programs to ensure they meet funding requirements and deliver meaningful impact.

Marketing and Promotion

You will actively support the implementation of the Mental Health Support for Children and Young People in Liverpool’s Marketing and Communication Strategy. This includes creating campaigns and resources to keep mental health services visible and up-to-date, managing web-based content, and growing the digital presence of Mental Health Support for Children and Young People in Liverpool through newsletters and social media.

Administrative and Financial Management

Your role will involve maintaining high-quality reporting on program activities and outcomes, supporting the completion of the Annual Development Plan, and ensuring projects adhere to funding and Service Level Agreement requirements. You will also assist in managing project budgets and funding applications to sustain and expand mental health initiatives.

Partnership and Collaboration

  • Networking: Collaborate with a range of strategic and operational partners, promoting the program citywide. Attend networking forums and support the Liverpool Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Board, advocating for mental health promotion across the community.
  • Representation: Represent Mental Health Support for Children and Young People in Liverpool, contributing to implementing the strategy and promoting best practices in mental health care.
